Introducing me - Rob Driscoll aka The Bow Tie Balloon Guy

Hi everyone,

Welcome to my blog! To Start off with, in the words of Austin Powers from the 1997 movie Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, "Allow myself to introduce myself."

My name is Rob, and I am a balloon artist. I've been twisting balloons for over 30 years, and they're a major part of my life. I am what is generally called a twister but I don't really like that term as it sounds like I should be rocking it out to some 60s tunes. I prefer to call myself a balloon artist instead of a twister because I see balloons as a medium for art, just like clay or paint. I studied art in college, and I use balloons to create all sorts of sculptures, from simple animals to elaborate scenes.

So what is this blog all about I hear you ask? I love seeing amazing balloon art and reading about balloons from other artists all over the world, and although I sometimes do step up and share my thoughts I tend to be a bit on the quiet side. Things get lost easily on social media, and I've noticed that I've made similar comments about certain things several times. I am full of odd random thoughts about balloons and I just wanted to get some of it written down into a blog so that I could share it.

This blog is for all balloon artists, regardless of whether you're a twister, decorator, or party supplier. I hope you'll find something useful here!

I end this first post with the words of one of the great philosophers of the world - "Nobody can be uncheered by a balloon" - Winnie the Pooh
